How to get involved

May 23, 2018 | 0 Comments

“If our hopes of building a better and safer world are to become more than wishful thinking, we will need the engagement of volunteers more than ever.” — Kofi Annan

“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”– Martin Luther King, Jr.

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” ― Barack Obama

Unlocking potential through Braille

Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa runs on the enthusiasm, dedication and efforts of a small group of people and is fueled by the goodwill, love and generosity of a very large number of individuals as well as corporations. However, the magnitude of work required to make an even greater difference among even larger numbers of blind/visually impaired children and young adults among the underprivileged sections of rural and urban society in East and southern Africa is enormous. The numbers of those we serve is increasing day by day.

You can help the core team to bring the light of knowledge and education and the joy of being able to ‘see’ with appropriate tools to more and more children suffering from blindness and other visual impairments. As Germany Kent said so aptly, “If you want more hope for your future, go help someone else and have more hope for their future.”

Help us make a difference in the lives and futures of blind/visually impaired children and young adults! GET INVOLVED!

You can get physically involved by volunteering your skills during your free time to help with our office work, from fundraising and advocacy to accounting, from back office to marketing, and more.

You can become an intern in our office. We can tailor your internship to your needs and provide you with formal certification for your work with us.

You can volunteer for field work in our field offices/member-schools in any of the 5 countries we serve, namely, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Rwanda.

You can connect us to individuals or organizations that would be interested in helping our cause.

You can buy an Orbit Reader 20 or sponsor a child (or several children) in any school of your choice.

You can donate funds to our organization. Every donation goes a long way to help a blind/visually impaired child to see. KBTA keeps is operational team small while working with parterns to ensure that the largest portion of your donation goes to help those with visual impairment receive quality education and support with employment opportunities in order to lead a life of independence and dignity.

Please get in touch with us and let us know how you would like to GET INVOLVED. Remember that it is really easy to make a difference; all it needs is the intention to do so and reaching out to us!
